About
“We are a full-service interior design studio based on Florida’s sunny gulf coast.”
Infusing beauty, elegance, functionality and a touch of refinement, Kind Interiors brings an elevated sense of living to life’s everyday moments.
The Kind Philosophy is that interiors are much more than open spaces and structural elements. They have the power to tell a story. To inspire a lifestyle. To provide comfort and security. They are a place to gather and entertain. A place to ground and find peace. To relax, restore, and rejuvenate. A refuge of your own making for yourself and those you love.
A Kind Home will enhance the way you live while adding financial value to your property. It will change the way you feel about your home and how it supports the life you lead. It will make the most of the space you have while reflecting your personal style and the things that inspire you most. It will become the backdrop to your life and the stories your family will tell. And it is our joy to dream, design, and deliver that for you.
The Kind Process
“Dream. Design. Deliver. Repeat.”
While every project is unique, our design process is universal.
The Kind Process is collaborative, imaginative, and detail-oriented. We begin by getting to know you, your style, and your vision. From there we consider the bones, overall aesthetic direction, circulation and layout of each space, and architectural elements. We work together to explore finishes, fixtures, and furnishings that are as functional as they are beautiful and breathe life into your project. We create a complete collection of documents necessary for construction and collaborate with the project team — architects, builders, and artisans. From conception to completion we journey alongside you, guide and inform you, and support you through the process.
-
The design process is a personal one, and we’d like to get to know you before we begin.
We’ll meet over coffee, discuss your dreams and desires, and curate an approach specific to you and your project.
-
This phase is all about gathering information — goals, timeline, budget, project team.
We share design inspiration and napkin sketches, gather floor plans and measurements, and focus on how you want your project to feel.
-
Once we understand parameters, we move into a phase of creative discovery.
Our program evolves into vision boards that are a collection of concepts, photographs, drawings, and materials.
-
Material palettes start to formalize, drawings push and pull, and design elements are mixed, blended, and layered until we achieve balance and it feels just right.
-
As much as we love dreaming and designing with you, we equally enjoy the work it takes behind the scenes to make it real.
We compile a collection of documents necessary for construction — floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, scaled elevations, specifications — to ensure design intent is communicated clearly and effectively.
-
While each phase is essential, this may be the most important — and exciting!
We have regular walk throughs together with the project team during construction and alas, when all is complete, welcome you to your beautiful new home.

— Pablo Picasso
Karlene Baskind is a certified interior designer and founder of Kind Interiors.
Her credentials include a BS in business, a BA in interior design, an NCIDQ certification, and a unique sense of who she is that she brings to everything she does.
Her experience is a vast array of work in both residential and commercial sectors — ranging from new construction, renovation, remediation, and historical preservation.
Her studies in the art of architecture, design, and Feng Shui anchor her belief that energy is palpable and the energy of each space is sacred and unique.
Her background in music, yoga, and martial arts are evident on every project — whether it’s orchestrating an arrangement, fine tuning a detail, or striking the perfect balance.
Her travels throughout the US, Central America, Europe, and the Caribbean have deeply influenced her perspective on design and the quality of her work.
Karlene currently resides in St. Petersburg, FL, though she has also called the shores of Maui and the forests of Oregon home. When she’s not designing you can oftentimes find her on a new adventure with her husband Brad, daughter Juniper, and golden retriever Buffy.
